What we do

Nova Scotia Association of Community Health Centres

Caring for communities for over 50 years.

The Nova Scotia Association of Community Health Centres (NSACHC) supports the province’s community owned and operated Community Health Centres to improve the health and wellbeing of Nova Scotians and their communities.

We work collaboratively with provincial and local partners for health equity and improved access to health and social services. NSACHC and its members also work closely with the Canadian Association of Community Health Centres and other provincial CHC associations to advance efforts aimed at improving health and health care across Canada.

Community Health Centres are Nova Scotia’s original “Health Homes” and have been providing timely, accessible and people-centred primary care, health promotion and social services in various communities throughout Nova Scotia for over 40 years.

Champions of a unique approach to services

NSACHC believes strongly that Community Health Centres are the optimal model of Health Homes for many Nova Scotia residents and their communities, bringing decades of experience as a provincial network and a commitment to services that are equitable and driven by local community needs and priorities.
CHCs are particularly effective at meeting the complex needs of individuals, families and communities that face greater-than-average barriers to health due to socio-economic factors, geographic isolation or other factors that impact health and access to appropriate health and social services.

Meet Our Partners

NSACHC works with partners across the province to advocate for community-based care. Provincial CHC associations exist from coast to coast, and we’re proud to be a part of a family of organizations that puts health equity first.
